Adopt a Boston Terrier (short coat)

Boston Terrier (short coat) Dog

Rosie the Dog needs a home

Rosie is a lost soul looking for someone to guide her and show her the way. Rosie was brought into the San Diego Shelter by her owners requesting euthanasia. They said that Rosie suffered from PTSD and would randomly lash out by biting them. The shelter staff evaluated Rosie and saw no aggressive behavior and called Boston Buddies for assistance. Our volunteer picked up this little nervous dog and found it hard to believe this cute little lady could hurt anyone. However, after

the first 24 hours Rosie did display some of the behaviors her previous owner described. Rosie gets very anxious when her surroundings aren’t calm and predictable. She acts out because she doesn’t know what else to do. Her foster Mom has been working with a behaviorist and Rosie has been a great student. In a structured “training” environment she remains calm and cooperative. However, at Rosie’s current foster home there are multiple dogs and constant distractions. Her foster parents can’t predict when one of their dogs might get excited when the doorbell rings and that sudden change throws off Rosie’s “Zen” state of mind. Until Rosie has a better grasp of how to handle these types of situations, she would do much better in a household with less pets and chaos. Rosie isn’t dog aggressive, she actually gets along with most dogs – especially calm male dogs. It is people that she is unsure about. Rosie is a beautiful, 5 year old, 20 pound, perfectly healthy Boston Terrier. Wish we knew more of her background to try to piece together what might have caused her to be so anxious. What we do know is she was adopted 2 years ago from a nonbreed specific rescue located in LA to the family who brought her to the San Diego shelter. From her time with Boston Buddies we know that she is smart, totally potty trained, crate trained, knows all of her basic commands like sit, down, stay etc… She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on all her vaccines, and now looking for someone with a big heart and great dog handling skills that would be willing to work with our behaviorist to help Rosie be the awesome dog we know she can be!! Is anybody up for the challenge?? Might be one of the most rewarding things you ever do!!
